this is a lovely project on grandmothers across the globe and their epicurean legacies aka the dishes we appreciate and remember them for. can i use that term? whatever. without a doubt, my mammaw will always be remembered for her banana pudding. you know, the kind with a thick, soggy layer of vanilla wafers ohh god and whipped cream? it's been a long time since i've had a home cooked meal by any of my grandmothers but, that's something i find so sweet about my italian boyfriend and his family. he shares a meal with his grandparents once a week and i drool over the photos he sends.
it's fascinating the ingredients we don't cook with in the USA, i mean SHARK in COCONUT SOUP?! grandma philippines, go on...
i think i'd stop by grandma latvia or zimbabwe's house for lunch. what about you? what dish will always remind you of your grandmother?
ohh, this is what oma cooked yesterday: Knödel or, bavarian bread dumplings.
you can find the delicatessen with love project here.
Oh my gosh this is so cute! I've always been sad I didn't have a grandmother to teach me some classic family recipes...so this is awesome!
